Merry Christmas

December was an interesting month! I was still home on maternity leave for most of the month, which made Christmas shopping a little easier. We also had lots of snow and there were quite a few days where we didn't leave the house. It was even a lot of snow by Alaska standards!

Ryker had fun playing in the snow, but he wasn't very good at keeping his hat or gloves on. He didn't seem to mind much and didn't understand why mommy and daddy didn't want him playing out for long.

This year was our first Christmas at home. It was a little strange, but we think it will be a wonderful holiday tradition for us to spend the morning at home relaxing and opening presents. The next day, we headed out to Astoria and had another Christmas with Grandpa Webb and Erin. Then it was off to Grandma and Grandpa Snow's house for another Christmas. Uncle Randy and Shannon were also there, so it was a lot of fun. Finally, we had another Christmas on New Year's Eve when Grandma and Grandpa O came to visit. Needless to say, Ryker thought we should open presents every day! He was quite disappointed to find out that wasn't going to happen.

One of Ryker's favorite toys was Koda, the triceratops, from Uncle Randy. Uncle Randy had been talking about Koda since Thanksgiving. Jeremy and I told him it was too expensive, since retail was around $300. Uncle Randy just couldn't get Koda out of his mind though and figured getting it half off at Costco seemed like a good deal. He and Shannon went to Costco and noticed someone leaving with a Koda; they were in luck, they thought, they had them in stock! Turns out, that was the last Koda. Now Uncle Randy was a little disappointed, but then found Koda for sale at Fred Meyer for $100! They decided it wasn't so bad that Costco ran out, especially after the woman at the checkout counter gave them a coupon making Koda only $80!! What a deal! They soon found out Koda and his box wouldn't fit in their car, but they decided to take him out and hope he worked okay.

Ryker wasn't sure what to think of the little dinosaur and was a little hesitant at first, but now he LOVES Koda. Every morning for a good while, he'd come downstairs and say hello to Koda. Whenever anyone comes to visit, Ryker is sure to introduce them.
